One side of the headphones has no tones or has " Static" or is intermittant

Problem:

This is one of the most common calls for service.

1) Check to see headphones for both left and right are plugged in CORRECTLY into the audiometer. They will typically be marked R or L or with Red (right) or Blue (left) markings. Make sure they are plugged all the way in.

2)Clean the plugs on the headset cable. It does not take much to affect the tones coming through the contacts. Use a clean cloth to wipe them off or use a contact cleaner sprayed on to a cloth and wipe the plugs down.

3)Plug the working side in to the non- working side and test it. If the tones work then the problem is most likley to be a broken headset cable. Call your service provider and ask to have the cables replaced.

NOTE: If the audiometer is connected to a booth (Sound room). Check the connections to the booth and make sure the cables are correctly plugged in. Check the headphones are in the correct holes on the inside of the booth. (They will either be numbered or the connection will be straight through)
